DAY ONLY SURGERY

WHAT IS IT?

· Some surgical procedures only require a short stay in hospital (a few hours).

· Usually these procedures require an Anaesthetic

· Usually you are able to go home that same day, after careful observation in recovery.

· If you are unable to go home after your surgery, arrangements are made for you to be admitted overnight or for a few days

· Although the surgery may be short and the hence the anaesthetic, most of the short procedures performed tend to less risky to yourself, HOWEVER, you still may require an anaesthetic identical to someone who may be staying a few days in hospital eg a general anaesthetic
